June Bateman Carter, 94, of Springfield, died at 1:24 am, Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born June 18, 1924 in Springfield, to Rolla and Capitola Hadley Bateman. She Married James R. Carter on October 9, 1943 and he preceded her in death on August 10, 2008.

Survivors include one daughter, Jayme L. (Robert) Lebshier of Chatham; one son, Jeffrey T. “Freddie” (Jessica Ramos Abreu) Carter of the Dominican Republic; three grandchildren Robert (Sheela) Lebshier, James Ian (Abby) Lebshier and Allison Anne Lebshier and four great grandchildren, Tyson Coleman, Lilah Coleman, Madden Lebshier, and Tristan Howell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son Joel R. Carter and one brother Virgil Bateman.

She was a founding charter member of Christ the King Church. Her favorite saying “It's five o’clock somewhere” was for her martinis. She retired from the State of Illinois department of Agriculture after eighteen years of service where she worked as Division Secretary.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Christ the King Church.
Funeral Mass: 11 am, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Christ the King Church with Reverend Joe Ring officiating.

Graveside Service: 10 am, Monday, December 24, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
