1922 - 2018 Arthur (Art) David Sweet (1922-2018) Born Salt Lake City, Utah, Died Kentfield, California Art Sweet died peacefully at home, holding the hand of his wife Eleanor, married 71 years. He leaves behind four daughters, Victoria, Dorothy, Jennifer and Patricia, and their spouses, Jenny Fichmann, Brooks Cofield, Robert Leathers and Dan Wick and his almost- son, nephew Scott Hartman and loving wife Estelle; niece Wendy Fennell (Richard); six grandchildren: Mike (Tammy), Jennie (Cameron), Jeffrey, Ed, Katie, Allison and four great-grandchildren: Alex, Jade, Daphne and Charlie. In his last three years, Art relied on his compassionate caretakers to live in his own home. We cannot thank them enough. Art spent his youth in Salt Lake City, Utah where his family owned the Sweet Candy Company. He was a B-25 bomber pilot during WWII. He returned from the war graduating with a B.S. in Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University. In 1947 he married the love of his life, Eleanor Ruth Glikbarg. Art was a business owner (DCT Manufacturing Inc.) a developer of commercial properties, an inventor (converted gasoline car engines to natural gas) and a writer in retirement. He was also a passionate member of Rotary International and the Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce. Fishing was his passion and he took many friends and family on fishing trips to Mexico and Alaska, Central Oregon, Florida, Minnesota and any place else there were fish to be caught. He is irreplaceable. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends & business associates. A memorial will be held on January 5, 2019 to honor Art and his life.
