She was born in Snellville, GA on May 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Henry Whitworth and the late Mildred Thomason Whitworth.
She had lived in this area since 1950 and attended Villa Rica High School. She worked for thirty years with Arrow Shirt Company as an inspector, left her job and returned to school where she received her LPN Degree in Nursing. She worked for more than fifteen years with Higgins General Hospital in Bremen before her retirement. It is believed that she is the last survivor of the Villa Rica Gas Explosion of 1957.
She enjoyed gardening and eagerly awaited the spring when she could start her garden, loved going to the beach with her family, and had collected elephants for many years. Her first love and devotion was to her husband and her three sons and their families. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed, but the beautiful memories she leaves behind will bring strength and comfort to her family and many friends for many years to come. She was a member of the Fullerville Baptist Church for thirty years before becoming a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Paulding County several years ago.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Jeff Garner of Villa Rica; her three sons, Craig Garner and , Verra, Eddie Garner and Ernie Garner and Susan; three sisters, Cora Mae Shirley, Louise Hembree and her husband, Larry, and Janie Hembree, all of Villa Rica.
