James H. Bratton, Sr., 87, of Renovo, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at Bucktail Medical Center, South Renovo.

He was born in Renovo on Feb. 20, 1931, a son of the late Joseph and Edith (Weaver) Bratton.

James was married on Jan. 25, 1955 to the former Mary Lou Litz. They celebrated 58 years of marriage together. She preceded him in death on June 24, 2013.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Department of Forestry retiring after 33 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

James enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Jim was a life member of the Eagles and a social member of the Sons of Italy of Renovo.

Surviving are two sons, James H. Bratton, Jr., and Jason (Sue) Bratton both of Renovo and four daughters, Cheryl McGowan, of Renovo, Debra (Neal) Proctor, of Renovo, Karen (Michael) Lowery, of Westport, and Sandra (Doug) Burrows, of Renovo.

Thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

Jim is also survived by a sister Sylvia Sabbitini, of Mill Hall.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Tina Bratton; a grandson Michael O’Brien; a granddaughter Colleen O’Brien and also three brothers and one sister.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo with the Rev. Joseph T. Orr officiating.

Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at North Bend Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Improvement Fund.
