Arthur "Art" Adelbert Mullett, Jr., 82, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sunday, 2 December 2018.

Art was born to Helen (Tregaskis) and Arthur Adelbert Mullett, Sr., on 1 January 1936, just as the clock struck twelve, ringing in the New Year. He was the eldest of the couple's three children. He and his brother, Dick, who was just sixteen months younger than Art, had wonderful adventures together. They both doted on their little sister, Kathy, who was ten years their junior.

Art grew up in Highland Boy, in the Bingham Canyon area of Utah. Here, he developed a great love for participating in sports. Art attended West High School and was a very talented athlete. He played on their football, basketball and baseball teams. It was not uncommon for pictures of him or articles mentioning his accomplishments to appear in the newspaper.

One morning in 1953, he and his brother, Dick, took the family Studebaker out to the drag races and returned home with the first place trophy. Many years later, Art still wondered if the discipline they received drag racing and winning was worth the trophy.

On 1 March 1954, Art married Kathryn Marelli. Though they later divorced, their union was blessed by the birth of their beautiful daughter, Sherry Jo Mullett.

During this time, Art worked for Commercial Shearing. There, he got to spend a few months in Luxembourg, Germany, as well as Sao Paulo, Brazil--a place he thought was beautiful. Some of While working for Commercial, he bent beams that were used in the Strawberry Reservoir Aqueduct and beams used for a tunnel that goes underneath the San Francisco Bay.

When Art married Shirley Waldram Burgoyne on September 29, 1967, he inherited a daughter, Stephanie, and three sons: Michael, Gregory, and Jeffrey. Later, he and Shirley added a son Arthur Adelbert , III. Art joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when Mike baptized him on March 27, 1971. Art and Shirley were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 9, 1994.

When Art left Commercial Shearing, he took a job managing a bowling alley. He always enjoyed bowling and loved meeting and getting to know so many different people. On April 6, 1992, he bowled a 297 game. He was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed years of this sport with friends and family. Later in his life, he worked for Pepsi for 14 years. Finally, he worked as the Depot Manager at the Newspaper Agency Corporation. In all of these jobs and activities he made many friends. He was well-liked by people who enjoyed his teasing and easy-going manner.

We express thanks to those who lovingly cared for Art. We appreciate the staff at Willow Wood Care Center and the Hospice caretakers for their thoughtfulness. We want to thank the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who serve in Church meetings each week in this facility for their kindness.
