Born Henry William Liska, the son of Frank and Anna Liska of Texas, Brother Camillus Liska, O.F.M., was a Franciscan Brother of the Custody of the Holy Land. He entered the Franciscan Order in 1924, and went to serve in Jerusalem in 1929, where he ministered for many years. He was a caretaker and sacristan at churches in Bethlehem and Jerusalem, and a guide for the many visitors and pilgrims who came there, such as Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, who visited the Holy Land in 1947. Brother Camillus later served at Mount St. Sepulchre, the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America at Washington, D.C., where he died at age 76.
