John was born to the late Elbert Ronald and Helen Virginia Burris on January 25, 1944 at Koontz Lake, IN. John was a math and music teacher and started teaching at Grovertown High School and then relocated to Indianapolis to teach at Perry Central and Keystone Middle School in Southport. He retired after 33 years of teaching.
John is survived by his brother, Robert (Marcia) Burris of Warsaw; half-sister, Ann Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of John's life will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. EST at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Saturday, February 2nd at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST. Burial will follow at the Grovertown Cemetery.
