Joseph Allen Bailey, 89 years of age, passed from this life, Saturday, December 8, 2018, from the comfort of his home in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on January 5, 1929, in Republic, Missouri to George Bailey and Dorothy (White) Bailey.
He attended school in Springfield, Missouri, and upon graduation attended Columbia College where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He enlisted in the Army in which he faithfully served his country for twenty three years before retiring. He was also employed as a mechanical engineer for the Ridewell Corporation for twenty five years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and American Legion Post 138. Joseph enjoyed being the family historian and was an avid clock collector.
Joseph married the love of his life, Eva (Laczika) Bailey, and together they shared sixty four years of love, laughter, and happy memories.
He is survived by his wife, Eva, children: Jody (Pam) Bailey, Robin Bailey, Shirley (Joe) Hatchcock, Michael Bailey, and Christopher Bailey (Jennifer Smith); 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Bailey; sisters: Marie James and her husband Patrick, Sue Scroggins, and Earline Bailey; and his mother-in-law, Maria “Omi” Preissler.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, from 5pm-7pm.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, at 2:30pm.
Burial with full military honors will be at White Cemetery near Clever, MO .
