She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Hicks; a son, Steve Hicks; Louise Hicks; her parents, Otto and Anna Mae DeMarcus; a sister, Iris Cannon; and her second husband, Bob Vogt.
Survivors include her sons, Mike (Cheryl) Hicks, David (Lorie) Hicks, and Kevin (Sheryl) Hicks; sister, Donna (Phil) Hansen; 9 grandchildren, Amber Lambert, Amanda Magee, Brandon Hicks, Tiffany Harris, Kalyn Hicks, Stephen Hicks, Shane Hicks, Doug Williams, and Derek Hozey; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hicks was a longtime active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She taught school for many years at St. Thomas Catholic School and also taught in the CCD program. She was an active member of the Carnival Association of Long Beach and served as Queen Rosalie in 1977.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 20, 2018, from 10 – 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Thomas Catholic Church or the Humane Society of South MS.
