Sharon Lee (Hopper) Batterton, 75, of Viola, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in Viola, Arkansas. She was born to the late James Eugene Hopper and Jessie Myrtle Marie (Foster) Hopper on March 14, 1943 in Elizabeth, Arkansas.

Sharon was united in marriage to Jimmie Leon Batterton on May 21, 1960 in Viola, Arkansas and to this union two sons were born. Sharon spent her working years as the secretary at the Viola High School in Viola, Arkansas. Sharon loved her grandchildren, going to ball games, camping, buggy riding and was a member of the Viola Baptist Church. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Sharon leaves to mourn her passing ; husband, Jimmie Batterton of Viola, Arkansas; two sons, Scott Batterton and wife Anita of Viola, Arkansas and Derry Batterton and wife Katy of Quitman, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Justin Batterton (Rachel Rassmusen), Nicki Batterton (Justin Dunavant), Cory Batterton (Ginney), Kyla Rogers (Mike) and Craig Batterton (Jara); eight great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Lawyer and husband Melvin of North Powder, Oregon; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers (James and Johnny Hopper).

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Interment will be in the Flora Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Justin Batterton, Mike Rogers, Terry Batterton, Cory Batterton, Kelly Batterton, Shawn Batterton, Craig Batterton and Mike Batterton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
