Funeral services for Ms. Janice Diane Murphy, 68, Palm Coast, who passed on December 2, 2018, will be 11 AM, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Patrick Harding officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5-8 PM, Friday, Dec 14, at RJ Gainous Funeral Home and from 9:30 AM until service time at the church on Saturday.

Ms. Murphy was born on August 22, 1950 in Daytona Beach to the late Willie Bob and Mary Murphy. She graduated from Mainland Sr. High School in 1968; in 3 years earned her BS Degree in History from Bethune-Cookman College, then pursued graduate studies at Nova Southeastern University. She worked as an employment specialist for the CETA Program and FL State Employment Services and retired as a student recruitment specialist for Daytona State College in 2013 after 30 years where she also worked as the Coordinator of the Women's Center and served as an adjunct faculty member in Adult Basic Education.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Joseph Murphy (Louise), and Bessie Murphy-Marshall. She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver, Jacinta Diona Murphy; brothers, Jerry Murphy, James Murphy, and Benjamin Murphy (Gladys); sisters: Ophelia Robinson and Ernestine Seales (Raymond); a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
