Roberta Munro Young, a resident of Los Altos for 46 years, passed away on April 18, 2017 following a brief battle with lung cancer.
Born in San Francisco and raised in Richmond, California, she graduated with honors (rarely seeing a B) from Presentation High School in Berkeley, Dominican College in San Rafael and Santa Clara School of Law.
She was a lover of history, a voracious reader and had an incredible intellect, able to synthesize facts from disparate sources into a cohesive theme. A lifelong Democrat, she enjoyed debating politics with friends (especially Republicans). She also loved the San Francisco Giants and would start each season memorizing the pitching staff (particularly the bullpen) so she could tell who was on the mound. She always knew the score.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dennis, sons Christopher (Katy) and David (Carol) and the four best grandchildren ever, John, Anna, Ian and Taylor. She is also survived by her four sisters Maureen (Fred), Janet, Ardyth (Mary) and Del, many in-laws, nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Simon Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 28, 2017, followed by a Celebration of Life at Los Altos Country Club.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Los Altos Library Endowment, Los Altos Community Foundation or the charity of your choice.
