Nora was raised up in Missouri until the age of fourteen, when her family moved to Kansas. There she met and married the love of her life, Jack Allen Smith in 1953 at Hutchinson, Kansas, and moved to Ardmore in 1973 from Wynnewood. Born to this union were five children, Gregory, Jackie, Elizabeth, Sandra and Virginia. They had celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary when Jack passed away May 6, 2015.
Nora was committed to her family and loved to take care of them. Her indomitable spirit encouraged family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. In her leisure time, Nora enjoyed crafting, painting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jack, Nora is preceded in death by two sons, Gregory and Jackie Smith. She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Buckaloo of Marietta, Sandra Johnson and Virginia Gateley of Ardmore; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also two sisters, Violet and Dorothy and a brother, Tommy Pendergrass.
Pastor Steve Skinner of Solid Rock Ministry, will officiate funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Burial will be at Provence Cemetery, with the assistance of Timothy Gilley, Jackie Gilley, Brent Riner, Danny Riner, Anthony Gateley and Gage Cogburn serving as pallbearers.
