Carl Dean Bryant, Sr.
July 29, 1936 - December 13, 2018

Carl Dean Bryant, Sr. of Greenwood, died Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Riverview Nursing Home. Services will be 3:00PM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Williams and Lord Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 PM until service time.

Interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery. Bro. Lanny Haley and Bro. Charlie Jones will officiate.

Mr. Bryant was born on July 29, 1936 in Manilla, AR, to the

late Ernest and Estelle Bryant.

Carl served as Fire Marshall for the Greenwood Fire Department during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. In 1974, he became the owner and operator of Playland Bowling Lanes in Greenwood. Carl was a people person and was a friend to everyone. He retired from Liberty National Insurance Company in 1999, when he began developing symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.

Carl was a member of Christ Baptist Church where he served the Lord faithfully as Sunday School Director, Teacher, Choir member, VBS worker, Children’s Choir leader, and lawn maintainer.

He loved to visit with people and take care of home-bound members.

Carl loved his family and will be missed greatly by them.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janice Bryant, and three children, Dean Bryant, Jr. (Kay) of Southaven, MS, Martha Falvey (Ronnie) of Madison, MS, and Cindy Jester (Mike) of Malvern AR.

His seven grandchildren lovingly called him “Poppa B.”

Pallbearers will be Donald Jackson, Mike Jester, Steve Hambrick, Rusty Matthews, Glenn Hitt, Richard Upchurch, and Thomas Tanksley.

The family extends a special thank you to the entire staff of Riverview Nursing Home for their loving care.
