Sarah Francis Fields, age 99, of Mineral Wells, Texas formerly of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at her home in Mineral Wells. Sarah was born June 17, 1919 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of John and Arabella (Poe) Briag. She graduated from high school in Springfield, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Norman Fields on April 3, 1941 in Emerson, Iowa where they made their home. Sarah worked many years at Union Carbide in Red Oak where she retired. Norman preceded her in death in 1981. She continued to live in Emerson until 10 years ago when she moved to Mineral Wells, Texas to be near her daughter, Diana. While in Emerson, Sarah attended the Emerson United Methodist Church and was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing the organ, painting, cooking, baking, and traveling. She spent many winters in Texas before moving there. Sarah sang in the church choir in Texas.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Norman Fields; her brothers: John, Clayton, and Larry Braig; sister: Dymple Neff; and grandson: Rusty. Survivors include her son: Bob Fields and wife Lynn of Harlan, IA; daughter: Diana Warren and husband Dick of Mineral Wells, TX; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Nadine Merritt of Florida and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Emerson United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Macular Degeneration Foundation.
