Amy Louise Brooks, 92, Independence, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. John’ s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Bible Holiness Church in Independence, Kansas with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Memorial may be made to the Independence Bible School and may be left with the chapel.
Amy was born September 16, 1926 in Elk City, Kansas to Andrew Raymond and Melissa Louise (Burks) Phillips. Amy attended and graduated Elk City, Kansas Schools. Amy married Orval Raymond Brooks on June 12, 1948 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma the couple made their home in Independence, Kansas and Amy was employed as a Cafeteria Worker for USD 446 for a number of years. Orval preceded Amy in death and Amy married Don Morris on October 21, 1988 in Miami, Oklahoma. Orval preceded Amy in death. Amy is a 70 plus year active member of the Bible Holiness Church, she enjoyed cooking, crafts, quilting, her church and family time with her children and grandchildren.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, Walter Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Elmer Phillips, Cecil Phillips, Laura Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Irene Coffey, Esther Phillips, and Ethel Breckenburg. And two husbands, Orval Raymond Brooks, and Don Morris. Those left to cherish her memory include six children, Ronald Gene ( Marsha) Ashford, Independence, Kansas, Gary ( Mary) Brooks, Cherryvale, Kansas, Dwight ( Judy) Brooks, Independence, Kansas, Larry ( Carolyn) Brooks, Independence, Kansas, Kathy Pollock, Independence, Kansas, Carolyn McClure, Independence, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great great-granddaughter.
