Son of Theodore A. and Bessie Blackman and brother of Seymour Blackman, he spent much of his life in Florida, graduating from Miami Beach High School and the University of Miami (1940).
His multifaceted career was centered in New Jersey. An inventor, he held numerous patents relating to pharmaceutical production. He manufactured pharmaceutical chemicals and drugs for major drug companies and the U.S. government. Consultant to various firms in the U.S. and abroad, he retired in 1980 as President and CEO of Stanley Blackman Labs, Inc. in South Hackensack, NJ in 1980.
All during his business life, he was a faithful "snowbird" and for the past 14 years he resided full time in the Boca Raton Golf and Tennis Club.
He was a gourmet cook, world traveler, speaker of several languages, magician, raconteur noted for his "Stanley Stories", inveterate golfer (starting at age 9), international chess player, talented photographer and artist, and accomplished violinist having played with the Miami, Brooklyn and Teaneck Symphonies.
Devoted husband of June Rothberg and the late Doris Weinstein, he aas "amazed" that he could love two women so deeply.
Loving father and stepfather of Betsy Blackman Wahmann (Chris) and Suzi Blackman Terven (Michael) and of Robert Rothberg (Carol) and Alan Rothberg (Debbie). Adored grandfather of Michael and Mark Rothberg, Kimberly Wahmann, Jennifer Stang (Michael), and Joseph Terven, great grandfather of Sydney and Gage Stang.
Services today, June 20, 2005 12:15PM at Eternal Light Memorial Park, Rte. 441, Boynton Beach, FL, to be followed by a luncheon in Celebration of Stanley's Life at Boca Raton Country Club.
