NAUVOO - Wendy Lou Denton, 57, Nauvoo, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Wendy was born Nov. 3, 1961, in Greeley, Colorado, the daughter of K. Douglas and Geogia A. Smith Fitch.

She was a graduate of Galesburg High School. Following high school she received her nursing degree from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She worked as a nurse in Galesburg, Chicago and Quincy. Mrs. Denton was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was involved in the Relief Society. She enjoyed photography, quilting and her dogs. She was known as a great friend.

Survivors include one daughter, Moira Roethle of Nauvoo; parents, Doug and Georgia Fitch of Greeley; maternal grandmother, Merle Smith; three sisters, Amy Fitch, Emily Hunter and Elizabeth Canuteson; her dog, Buttons; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; maternal grandfather; and her dog, Niblet.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo. Following the service the family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for a cemetery monument. A private family burial will be held in the Nauvoo City Cemetery.
