Obituary for Janice Hanson

Flagstaff, Arizona. Janice Marie Krouse Hanson, 78, of Flagstaff, Arizona, died Thursday, December 6, 2018, at her home in Flagstaff. She was born April 16, 1940, in Harvey, Iowa, the daughter of Henry B. and Ina Arkema Krouse. In high school she was active on the basketball team and set several scoring records. She graduated from Tracy High School with the class of 1958. Following high school, she worked at Walton Insurance Agency in Oskaloosa. On June 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to Loyd R. Hanson, II, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage Jan worked as the office manager in various insurance offices. In 1978, the family moved to Arizona. In the early 1980’s the two of them made the decision that Jan would stay home to care for their home and family. This was her favorite thing to do, she loved caring for her children, grandchildren, and later her aging mother. She had a servant heart and looked for opportunities to be a caregiver. Jan was a member of the United Methodist Church. She and Loyd enjoyed over 52 ½ years of devotion to each other. They were best friends and traveled the world together. She truly delighted in having her family around.

Her family includes her husband Loyd R. Hanson, II, of Flagstaff, Arizona; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Loyd Hanson, III and (Eric) Bradley Hanson; and two brothers, Carl Krouse and Robert Krouse.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Bruce Wittern officiating. Burial will be in the Bellefountaine Cemetery near Tracy. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Bellefountaine Cemetery Association.
