James Bryant Glisson, age 92, a resident of Fairhope, AL., passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018.
He was a WWII Veteran and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was also a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Post #49 in Mobile and of the American Legion Post # 199 in Fairhope. He was a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Mobile. Jim was a former main speaker at the annual reunion of the US Coast Guard. He also spoke at various Mobile and Baldwin County Schools about his military service time.
Mr. Glisson is survived by his wife, Sylvia L. Glisson of Fairhope, AL; 3 sons: Glenn D. Glisson, Sr. of Mobile, AL, James H. Glisson, also of Mobile, and Paul B. Glisson of Fairhope; 2 daughters: Barbara Saunders of Dallas, TX and Linda K. Glisson of Mobile; brother, Edghar F. Glisson of Grand Ridge, FL; sister, Fannie L. Watkins of Brainbridge, GA; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 17, 2018, in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.
