James A. Bosley was born about 1779 and was the son of Walter Bosley (1754-1793) and Mary Trapnall, of Maryland. James A. Bosley was married on April 23, 1822 to Elizabeth Nicholson Noel (1797-1851), the daughter of Perry Eccleston Noel (1768-1813) and Sarah 'Sally' Nicholson (1740-1818). James A. Bosley was a well-known Baltimore merchant and real estate investor. He died on March 16, 1843 and was buried in the Noel Cemetery in Centreville, Maryland. James Bosley was in his 30's when he married Elizabeth Nicholson Noel was about 25 at the time.

James A. Bosley is the son of Walter Bosley (1754-1793) and Mary Trapnal (?-1797) of Maryland.

James A. Bosley and his wife were well known during their life for the purchase of unique furniture. In particular, the Bosley's purchased furniture made by Charles Honore' Lannuier. Lannuier, who was born in France, made furniture in New York City up to his death in 1819. James Bosley purchased a significant amount of Lannuier furniture which generations later made their way to the NY MET and the Maryland Historical Societies collections.

James A Bosley and his wife had no children. Upon his death, he left his estate to his wife Elizabeth. Upon her death in 1851 she left her estate to her sister, Margaret Esther Noel (1799-1897) and eventually to her only child, James Bosley Noel Wyatt (1847-1926) a famous Baltimore Architect (Wyatt and Nolting). James Bosley Noel Wyatt left most of the Lannuier furniture purchased by James and Elizabeth Bosley, to the Maryland Historical Society by gift in 1920. Three Lannuier side chairs were retained by James Bosley Noel Wyatt and upon his death in 1926; one was given to his business partner William G Nolting ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyatt_%26_Nolting ) and two were given to his cousin, Charles Handfield Wyatt, Jr.
