Netta is my sister in-laws (Annette Burns) mother. I have known her for all but a couple of years of my life. Netta was affectionately known to me in my early years as Aunty Nett but later on when her grandchildren and my children came along, I referred to her as Nanny Akers. Nanny Akers died suddenly at home after spending the day with the ones she loved the most. Nanny suffered from Asthma for a lot of her life, as far as I can remember and was often hospitalised. Later in life, she developed sugar diabetes and this weakened her heart. Netta leaves behind her husband Russell Akers (known as The Captain and Poppy Akers), a daughter Annette Faye Burns, a son Russell Akers, many grand chidlren and great grand children. She was preceded in death by her son Brian Akers who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly 28/8/1993.

God took the fragrance of a flower, the majesty of a tree, The gentleness of the morning dews, the calm and quiet sea, The beauty of the twilight hour, the soul of a starry night, The laughter of a rippling brook, the grace of a bird in flight, The tender care of an angel, the faith of a mustard seed, The patience of an eternity, the depth of a family's need; Then God fashioned from these things a creation like no other and when His masterpiece was through He called it simply - Mother.......because.....A mothers love is something that no one can explain, It is made of deep devotion and sacrifice and pain, It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may` For nothing can destroy it or take that love away, It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking and it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking, It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns; and it grows with all the beauty of the rearest brightest gems. It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation, and it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation. A many splendid miracle that man cannot understand and another wondrous evidence of a Mothers guiding hand.
