Interred: (old) St. Mary's Cemetery
Established by the city of Allegheny's first Catholic, German-speaking congregation, St. Mary's Parish (church dedicated 17 December 1848), on four acres of ground at "Nunnery Hill", in the Fineview section. First burial in 1854. Cemetery closed in 1891, when "new" St. Mary's Cemetery was opened on Mount Troy Road. Most burials were moved to the new cemetery, but some families opted to move remains to one of two Pittsburgh cemeteries: St. Mary's Cemetery-Lawrenceville, or Calvary Cemetery.
