Obituary of Dorothy Davis-Bradford
Dorothy Mae Davis-Bradford was born on January 5, 1930 to Washington Saul and Cora Davis in Wellston, Oklahoma. She was the eighth of nine children born to this union.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age. Her family later moved to Oklahoma City where she attended Oklahoma City Public Schools and graduated from Douglass High School in 1948.
Dorothy united in holy matrimony to Inman Bradford and to this union five children were born: Jacquelyn, Joyce, James, Barbara, and Patricia. She had a significant relationship with Clyde Earl Davis, and during this bond she gave birth to Debra.
Dorothy later married Leon Everett Shaw and four children were born to this union: Derek, Carolyn, Leon and Lorna.
Dorothy was a dedicated food nutrition services employee for many years with the Oklahoma City Public Schools District and at several hospital systems in Oklahoma City Later, during her tenure as a domestic worker, she was deeply devoted to all of her employers and played a huge role in shaping their lives.
Dorothy loved watching soap operas and sporting events. She was an avid reader of Harlequin Romance novels and she took great pleasure in completing 'crossword puzzles, cooking and entertaining others in her home. Her grandchildren were
the spark of her life. Dorothy was affectionately known as "Granny" because of the kindness shown to everyone while visiting with her in "The Lot." On December 4, 2018, the Lord called her from labor to restful reward. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; son, James Bradford, and daughters, Patricia
Berryhill and Carolyn Shaw.
Her life will be fondly remembered by her five daughters: Jacquelyn Davis (George) of Midwest City, OK, Joyce Jones (Larry) of Oklahoma City, OK, Barbara Bradford of Oklahoma City, OK, Debra Chisholm (Clarence) of Purcell, OK, and Lorna Shaw of Oklahoma City, OK; her two sons, Leon and Derek Shaw of Oklahoma City, OK; a devoted sister-in-law, Eulila Davis; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighborhood children.
Dorothy played an integral role in helping shape many lives. Although we know that she loved all of us unconditionally, she had a remarkable way of making you feel that you were the most important person in the world. We are eternally grateful
for everything that she was to us in life and everything her memory will continue to be as we carry her loving spirit with us always.
