She was born September 9, 1943 in Biloxi to Mary R. and Julius Barich. She graduated from Ocean Springs High School and Perkinston Junior College. She participatedin her high school's varsity basketball, lettering her Junior and Senior year, and was also the Queen of Billikins Carnival Krewer January 27, 1975. She worked at WLOX television station for 51 years as a programmer. She also enjoyed basketball, golf, bowling, and water-skiing.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Joyce Barich.
Survivors include her son, James Julius McCarthy; niece, Juliet Lawson Jowett; grand-niece, Caitlin Victoria Jowett; and sister, Juliet Barich Franc.
Services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
