Richard Charles was born November 20, 1916 in Morning Sun, Iowa the son of William E. and Myrtle L. (Gable) Caparoon. On December 24, 1936 Richard was united in marriage to Elizabeth R. Robertson in Long Beach, California. Richard was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from September 1934 to August 1937 and then from May 1945 to June 1946. He was a member of the American Legion, the Moose and attended the New Hope Methodist Church. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved the outdoors.
Richard will be deeply missed by his wife, Elizabeth of San Antonio; two sons, Phillip E. Caparoon and his wife, Monna, of San Antonio, Texas and William C. Caparoon and special friend, Maria Niaves, of Madison, Wisconsin; one daughter, Shirley A. Oberhaus and her husband, Patrick, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Caparoon.
