He was a son of Richard I. and Doris (Brenon) Crane Sr. He was the oldest of three children. Dick attended school at Squash Hole, Augustinian Academy and Carthage Central School, where he graduated.

He went on to join the United States Air Force in October of 1961 and retired in October of 1981. During his service, he was stationed in various countries and served during the Vietnam War.

He married Barbara Ann Pierce while being stationed in Hawaii. After retiring from the Air Force, he became Site Manager for communications at Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS). He then went on to work as the Head of Maintenance Technology at Rome Griffith Air Base, where he retired in 2003.

He married Barbara St. Louis on 12/29/2007 in Copenhagen, NY.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and camping. He was a member of the Trenton Fish and Game, Carthage Rod and Gun Club, and the Northern Tier Trap League.

He is survived by his wife; three children, Kristin Moistner, Kelly (James) Moore), Kory (Myrna) Crane; three stepchildren, Kimberly Lobdell, Mathew (Julie) Stephenson, and Tamie (Josh) Muncy; two brothers, Steven (Mary) and Kevin (Karen); and seven grandchildren.

Burial with military honors was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Copenhagen, NY. (Fairview)
