Williamsburg - Leonard "Honus" Archer Wagner, 86, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018. He was born on September 6, 1932 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Leonard James and Edna Archer Wagner. He graduated from Wood Wilson High School in 1950. Leonard attended VMI for 3 years before he was called to serve his country. He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War served as a medic and then as a structural engineer. Leonard went back and graduated with the class of 1954 at VMI.On December 2, 1956 he married Betty Susan Eubanks. They had 2 children, Leonard Dale and Betty Susan.

A marriage filled with love, hard work, faith and devotion, they recently celebrated their 62nd year of marriage.His career began at the shipyard in Newport News. A couple of transfers later, he arrived at Langley Air Force Base. He enjoyed a career at Langley for over 35 years as a civil and structural engineer.He had a passion for sports, traveling with his wife, reading, wood working, eating and anything VMI. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Newport News for 52 years

.He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Susan and grandson Walker McLaughlin. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard James, his mother Edna Gertrude and his son Leonard Dale also a VMI graduate, class of 1982.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 6-8pm at Bucktrout Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Va. Burial service will take place on Friday, December 15, 2018 at 10am at Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth, followed by a memorial service at 2pm in Williamsburg at Williamsburg United Methodist church located on Jamestown road. Reception to follow.
