Jim, the eldest of six siblings, was born in McAlester on May 27, 1946, to Bob and Irene (Wilson) Alexander. He attended schools in McAlester.
After high school, he completed three tours of duty in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
His main occupation after his military service was that of printer, pressman and photographer. His employment included the McAlester News-Capital, Wilburton News and the United States Naval Ammunition Depot print shop. He also worked as a carpenter and ranch hand.
As a young boy, he spent many hours in the woods with his cousins, hunting, fishing and just roaming. As he got older, you could find him at local rodeos participating in bull riding. Later in life, his roaming took him many places, eventually settling in Arizona and, with his companion and faithful dog "Jack", traveled from deserts to mountains, always on the lookout for pieces of history. From searching for arrowheads to Spanish artifacts, Jim entertained us with stories of many hair-raising adventures.
He is survived by two daughters. Heather and husband, Andy Everett, of Guernsey, Channel Islands, and Jenna and husband, Leroy Kramer, of Wylie, Texas. Grandchildren include Julian Alexander and Adrianna Alexander, of Tulsa, Alexis Alexander, of Broken Arrow, Piper and Sam Everett, of Guernsey, and Alec and Seth, of Wylie. Great-grandchildren include Kylar Ryan Alexander, of Broken Arrow, David Alexander, of Tulsa, and Michael Alexander, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. His brothers, Ted and Jerry Alexander, and two sisters, Leona Plymate and Katy Anderson, all reside in the Arpelar/Cabiness area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Irene Alexander; a sister, Patricia Sue Alexander, and his son, Adrian "Brian" Alexander.
