Martha Greene Hicks, 71, of Elk Park, North Carolina went home to be with our Lord on Friday, December 7, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family as peacefully entered her heavenly home. She had struggled with poor health for several years but never complained or lost her Christian spirit.
Loved ones to greet her in Heaven were her parents Spurgeon and Artibelle Greene. Her beloved husband Jerry Hicks and her son David Hicks. Two sisters, Barbara Greene and Willa Mae Buchanan, brothers Johnny Greene, David Greene and Joe Greene.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sylvia Vance and her husband Tommy, who took such good care of her. Her grandsons Creed Vance and wife Courtney and Tyler Vance and his wife Teresa. Martha was happiest when she was with her children and their children. Her four great grandchildren, Caden, Caleb and Charleigh Vance and Phoebe Laughter.
Her brother and sister in laws loved her dearly and always thought of her as their sister and friend. Martha is also survived by a sister, Juanita Vance and a brother Gary Greene, many nieces, nephews and cousins, who always considered Martha's house their home because of her big heart and loving spirit.
A service to celebrate her life will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Elk Park Christian Church with Rev. Terry Gardner and Rev. Doug Bare officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 with service to follow at 3. Graveside services to follow at Hicks Family Cemetery.
