Dale O. Kuntz, 85 of Pekin, passed away at 4:58 am, Monday, December 10, 2018 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
He was born October 3, 1933 in Strawn, IL to Charles and Flossie (Sheppard) Kuntz. He married Helen E. Abbey August 12, 1957 in Cropsey, IL. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2018.
Dale was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother Don, and two sisters, Doris and Donna JoAnn.
He is survived by; three sons, Steve Kuntz of Morton, Eric Kuntz of Peoria, AZ and Warren Kuntz of Galesburg and three grandchildren, Trevor, Sydney and Colin.
Dale served in the United States Army. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Morton and enjoyed his association with the adult bible study there. He taught chemistry and physics at East Peoria Junior High School.
He was a talented artist and was a member of many Art Clubs in the Pekin / Peoria area. He enjoyed geology and was an amateur historian, particularly, Tazewell County, and presented programs around the area on topics including the Underground Railroad and Abraham Lincoln. Dale was a longtime volunteer at the Miller Senior Center. He was a member of the Tazewell County Republicans.
His memorial service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. A visitation will be held prior from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday. Pastor Heather Robertson will officiate. Per Dale’s wishes, his body has been donated to the advancement of science.
