Dorothy "Cookie" (Barker) Ballard, 60, of Springdale, passed away on June 29, 2017 in Springdale. Cookie was born on March 4, 1957 in Maywood, CA to Lila and Paul Barker. Cookie graduated from Prairie Grove High School in 1975 and married Roger Ballard on 6/7/75. The 42 year marriage produced two sons. Professionally, "Mrs. Cookie" loved the children she worked with in the 10 plus years she served as a teacher's aide/special education assistant in the Alpena school district. After her sons were adults Cookie spent the remainder of her career as office manager for the family business, Ballard Transport. Cookie's true passion in life was her family. She was a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren as well as the primary caregiver for her mother's last years in life. Cookie's greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her family. She was the matriarch of the family who always hosted the holiday and family gatherings.

Left to cherish Cookie’s memory are her husband, Roger; two sons Ben Ballard and Brandon Ballard; two brothers Paul "Butch" Barker and Tony Barker; one sister, Jennifer Ford; grandchildren Bryceton Ballard, Ashtyn Ballard, Gavin Dwyer, Jacob Ballard, Lauren Ballard, Zydon Ballard and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00pm, Monday, July 3 at Westfield Chapel funeral home in Springdale. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm.
