Born in Malden, MA on August 11, 1952, Dick was the son of the late David and Marie Babb of Medford, MA. After graduating from Medford High School Dick very proudly served in the United States Army. In the year 1975 Dick and Debbie welcomed a son Jason, who is the light of their lives. The trio spent many summer vacations and weekends at their home on Mousam lake in Acton, ME where they enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and time spent with family and friends. Dick was an avid reader and enjoyed reading all sorts of novels.
He was especially interested in mysteries. He also very much enjoyed Debbie's cooking and many special meals prepared by her on Christmas, New Year’s Eve and the random Tuesday.
Dick had a boisterous laugh and a beautiful smile. Despite the injuries he sustained in his service in the United States Army he managed to keep a positive attitude and soldiered on despite his pain... a true patriot to the end. Dick and Debbie remained truly devoted to each other through all of life's ups and downs and his loss is immeasurable. Dick was a devoted father to Jason and the two could often be found fishing after school, a memory Jason will always carry with him. It is with a heavy heart our family mourns the passing of our dear husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 13, from 11 AM – 12 noon, followed by a 12 noon funeral service with US Army Honors at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., in Cornish. Burial will be in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com
