June 13, 1924 - December 4, 2018
Sarah Jayne Snyder, age 94, was born in DeQuincy, Louisiana June 13, 1924 to parents H.D. Millwee and Lois (Gammage) Millwee and passed away peacefully December 4, 2018 at her home of 70 years in Channelview, Texas. After growing up in Louisiana, Sarah went to College in Natchitoches, Louisiana to become an X-Ray technician. In 1944 she moved to Houston, Texas to work at Jeff Davis Hospital. She met Jack Snyder who also worked at the hospital as a medical intern. Jack and Sarah were married in 1946. They had two children, Marilyn and Robert.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Halalilo and her children, Tai, Ki and Nao; son, Robert Snyder and wife, LaBeth and their son, Robert Kielan along with 9 great grandchildren.
Sarah loved her family and always put them first above her needs. She took good care of Jack’s grandparents, Jack’s aging parents as well as her parents. She took in anyone that needed help—un-wed mothers, young married teens that needed a little guidance and help, struggling alcoholics - even stranded animals looking for a home. Anyone was welcome at her table anytime.
Sarah loved photography. She won awards for her photography. She loved the Lord and loved going to church. She was a Sunday School teacher, went to church faithfully and led many people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Although she was unable to get around in her later days and was wheelchair bound, it didn’t stop her from being who she knew God would want her to be. She was an encourager and would mail letters and make phone calls to uplift people that needed the extra encouragement. She was loved by her family and all who knew her.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Perkins Cemetery, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Rev. Gil Arthur will be officiating.
