Lou Anne Lambert, the former Mrs. James C. Gamble, 72, of Cambridge City, Ind., formerly of Irwin and Ohio, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014. She was born June 14, 1942, in New Castle, Ind., the daughter of the late Aaron and Martha (Thompson) Lambert. Lou Anne graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education. She taught high school in Indiana and Illinois for five years before moving to Pennsylvania. She earned a Master of Science in Reading and Language Arts from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Lou Anne became a reading specialist for the Hempfield Area School District for more than 32 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cambridge City, the Order of Eastern Star, New Castle Chapter 116, the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Hempfield Area Education Association. Throughout her life, Lou Anne greatly enjoyed the beauty and splendor of tall trees, flowers, nature and wildlife. She is survived by her brother, Terry S. Lambert, of Cambridge City, and many cousins. The family received friends Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, and Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at SPROLES FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, in New Castle, Ind., where funeral service will follow, with the Rev. James Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Zion's Lutheran Cemetery, in Pershing, Ind. There was an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. A celebration of Lou Anne's life held in the Pittsburgh/Greensburg area is to be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Friends of Westmoreland County, Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, Fasnacht Family Education Foundation through the Hempfield Foundation, National Arbor Society or any wildlife fund or library of choice.
