Mr. Mathews passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2018 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.

A native of Middleton, TN, he was the son of the late Gary Mathews and Lala Robinson Mathews. Mr. Mathews spent his early years in the Walnut, MS/Middleton, TN area and his working life in Bartlett, TN near Memphis.

He served his country in the US Air Force for 21 years where he retired as a Master Sergeant. He also worked 15 years for Old Dominion Freight Line as a diesel mechanic. Mr. Mathews received his Associate of Arts degree from Central Texas Community College. In his spare time, he loved restoring old automobiles, repairing old motors and just "tinkering." He also enjoyed traveling the world.

His survivors include three daughters, Tammy Childers (Jason) of Bartlett, Victoria Mathews of Puyallup, WA and Brenda Mathews of Tacoma, WA; a son, Robert Mathews (Cecilia) of Tacoma, WA; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eleven sisters and brothers.
