James Laverne “Skeeter” Webb Jr., 81, LT. NOPD – Retired, passed away on Saturday, August 18th, 2018, in Slidell.

He was Born on September 28, 1936 at Baptist Hospital in New Orleans LA. to James L. Webb SR. and Alma Clare Biggs. His grandparents were Thomas Jefferson Webb, Elizabeth “Lydie” Bailey, and Harry J. Biggs and Mary Ethel McCabe.

By his first marriage to Marilyn Francis Purdum, he is survived by a son Jeffery Lowell Webb, his wife Dawn, and their two children.

By his second marriage to Alice Juanita Chance, he is survived by a son James Lee Webb, his wife Ranie, and their three children.

By his third marriage to Christine Cortez, he is survived by a daughter Jenni Lynn Webb, her husband Randy, and their three children; and a son Justin Lawrence Webb.

“Skeeter” is survived by his Sister Carol Ann Potter and her four children; a brother, John Robert Webb, wife Cynthia, and their two children; a sister, Pamela Mary Burton, her husband Rick, and their six children.
Lt. Webb attended St. Dominic’s Grammar School and graduated from Warren Easton High School. He attended LSU. He then began to serve his country in the U.S. Navy for 8 yrs. He served two years on active duty aboard the USS Franklin Roosevelt CVA 42 as a Radarman and six years in the reserves. Upon his retirement he returned to LSU for an additional semester then joined the N.O.P.D. Graduating in December of 1958. He was a Homicide Detective and retired from N.O.P.D as a LT. Commander of the Burglary Division after 18 years. He went to the F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, Virginia and was a N.O.P.D. Liaison for the Secret Service when they were in New Orleans. He then became a stage hand at the Saenger Theatre for several years as a member of the I.A.T.S.E. “International Association of Theatre Stage Employees” Local 39.

In Memory of a Life so Beautifully Lived, and a Heart so Deeply Loved, a Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 2:00pm, at The Landing, 4750 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell LA 70458.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Rd, Slidell LA 70460, at 11:00am. Please meet at the cemetery office to proceed to the gravesite at 10:50am.
