She was employed at Northwest Paper in Cloquet. She was a people person who loved working and interacting with co-workers and customers. Sonja retired from Potlach.
Sonja married Daniel Wakefield on May 22, 1962. She was passionate about her family; her grandchildren were her pride and joy; she took great pride in them and always had a hug and kiss for everyone she met. Sonja was an outstanding housekeeper, some of her hobbies included gardening, working in the yard and caring for her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her uncle, Tommy McKeever.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Daniel; sons: Scott (Rachelle) and Dino (Kristen) Wakefield; her honorary daughter, Bev (Les) Welch; her grandchildren, Danny, Dustin, Marlee, Caden and Anders Wakefield.
Inurnment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet.
