Howard was born October 17, 1930 in Phoenix, Arizona to Leon Charles and Katherine Peterson Walton. He married Geraldine Parkin on June 5, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Counselor in the bishopric three different times. He was a member of the High Cuncil, Counselor in the Elder's Quorum, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, and an Ordinance Worker at the Jordan River Temple for six years.
Howard served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1949. He worked many years for Burroughs Co. and retired from the Utah State Prison. His passion in life was golfing and working at the Extraction Center. He enjoyed traveling around the country and world with his brother and sister-in-law, Reed and Glenna.
Howard is survived by his wife of fifty-three years; four children and their families, Bradford Walton, Kelso, Washington; Teri (Layne) Oliver, West Valley City; Scott (Jeri) Walton, Riverton, Wyoming; and Karen Walton, West Jordan; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Lulu Jones, Kanab. Preceded in death by his father and mother.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kearns Fourteenth Ward Chapel, 4232 West 5015 South. Friends may call on Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
