Dunnellon-Rainbow Springs- Bill L. Porter, 93, died on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 2018 at the Legacy House in Ocala. He was born August 6, 1925 in Stapp, Oklahoma and grew up during the Dust Bowl. He was the son of the late Charles Arthur and Mary Ellen Porter. Bill was a longtime resident of Port Orange, FL and moved to Dunnellon in 1996. He was a WWII United States Marine Corp veteran having fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, serving in the 3rd Tank Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. He was a Bronze Star Recipient who served our country proudly. Bill enjoyed fishing, sailing and motorcycle riding. He is survived by his wife, Guinevere Porter; his son, Scott Porter and his wife Vicky of Palm Beach Gardens and his grandchildren, Lindsay (Deche) Adams and Jennifer (Alexander) Wittmann.

There will be a Graveside Service on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11 AM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with full military honors.
