Robert William Raines Jr., a native of Gadsden, TN and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 90. He was a graduate of Tennessee Tech University in Cookville, TN and a charter member of the South Baton Rouge Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. He was on the Board of Directors of Camp Smiling Acres in Greensburg, LA. Robert was also a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife Patricia R. Raines; daughter Melinda R. Sandlin and husband Captain Edward W. Sandlin II, USCG and their children Perry Logan Sandlin and Katherine Ann Sandlin; son James R. Raines and wife Mary Taylor Raines and their children Cameron Elise Raines and William Taylor Raines; and a sister Kathleen R. Hutchinson of Trenton, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert W. Raines Sr. and Katie Frances Raines; sister Louise R. Chapman of Humboldt, TN; and brother Ernest Ray Raines of Rosharon, TX. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at South Baton Rouge Church of Christ, 8725 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA from 9AM until 11AM. A funeral service will be held at 11AM. Interment to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
