Derek Lennard Lewis, age 48, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 25, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends.

Mr. Lewis was a 1990 graduate of North Forsyth High School where he played football and baseball. Derek was a lover of all sports especially NASCAR. He was also fond of car and truck shows and was well known for his “Pink Panther” truck. Derek was a faithful employee of John Guy’s Trucking Company for 4 years.

He was raised in Rural Hall, NC where he was a member of St. James United Methodist Church as a youth. He later joined Antioch Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Mrs. Martha “Sue” Lewis; siblings, Tammy and Allen; and his grandparents, Richard & Betty Sprinkle and Allen & Dorothy Lewis.

He leaves to cherish his memory his best friend and devoted, loving wife, Kimberly; sons, Trent and JaWan; step-children, Brian and Tina; his loving father, Mr. June Lewis; mother-in-law, Shelia “Sugga” McCombs; 2 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; 2 loving uncles, Melvin and Arthur Eldridge; step-mom, Arcola; step-sister, Dana; a special cousin who was like a sister to him, Coretta “CoCo” Hairston; as well as a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, December 8, 2018 at First Waughtown Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
