Freddie Granville Butler, age 95, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Springfield Center in Lindside, WV. Born January 22, 1923, in Marie, WV, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Bessie Cody Butler. Freddie was a graduate of Greenville High School and a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Red Sulphur Springs Community Church and formerly worked at Celanese in Narrows, VA. Additionally, he was a member of the Republican Committee, a member of the Arts and Crafts Guild, and a former member of the Monroe County Historical Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelyn Bishop Butler; one son, Daryl Butler; three sisters, Ann Willey, Rosa Doyle, and Edith Caldwell; and one brother, William "Bill" Butler. Survivors include one son, Johnnie Butler and wife Carol of Greenville, WV; eight grandchildren, Tim Butler and wife Wendy of Amelia, VA, Lisa Blankenship and husband Garland of Rich Creek, VA, Keith Butler and wife Tammy of Shawsville, VA, Michele Fields and husband Gary of Pearisburg, VA, Allen Butler of Glen Allen, VA, Robin Crist and husband Jack of Burnsville, WV, Lisa Butler of Buckhannon, WV, and Ben Butler of Rainelle, WV; nineteen great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
