Melanie Louise Sharp, 63, of Springfield, Ill., passed away on Dec. 6, 2018, at her residence.

She was born on July 29, 1955, in Hannibal to Earl Franklin and Dorothy Mueller Wilson.

Melanie Sharp is survived by three sisters, Mary Linda (Nate) Frazee and Melissa (Larry) Creech, both of Hannibal, and Marian (Jim) Bent of Camp Point, Ill.; six nieces and nephews, Nathan E. Frazee of Hannibal, Natalie (Nick) Nedza of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Shane (Mary Jo) Creech of Columbia, Cara (Brice) Baumgardner of Hannibal, Kyle Bent of Claremore, Okla., and Blake Bent of Greenville, S.C.; eight great-nieces and great-nephews, two great-great-nieces; numerous cousins; and her precious cat, Babbs.

Melanie graduated from Hannibal High School in 1973 and worked in Virden and Jacksonville, Ill., before joining Green Family Stores, where she served as the office manager for over 20 years. She was very close with her Green co-workers and considered them and her boss, Todd Green, family. Melanie was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Broncos and the Cardinals, and she enjoyed attending her nephews’ sporting events. She was known for hosting many pool parties for her neighbors, friends and family. She enjoyed taking many trips to Florida and family vacations at the Lake of the Ozarks. Melanie loved the sun, the ocean and the beach, and some of her most cherished memories were from her monthly “sister” weekends.

During Melanie’s illness she had an amazing group of friends and co-workers whose love and support were nothing short of phenomenal. Thanks to the nurses and CNAs who provided 24-hour care and to Memorial Hospice. Her family will be forever greatful.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, Springfield, Ill., and a graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bisch West.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
