Margaret Sue D’Spain Horton, 85, passed away on December 3, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 7:00PM-9:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 2:00PM at Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:30AM at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, TX.

Margaret was born on December 29, 1932 in McLean, TX to Harris and Mary D’Spain.

She was married to Joe Frank Horton on April 22, 1956 in Austin, TX.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Abilene Christian University and she received a master’s in education from the University of Texas at Austin.

She taught school for 40 years and retired from the Big Spring Independent School District in 1995.

She was an avid reader and active in the 14th and Main Church of Christ in Big Spring prior to moving to Midland in 2012.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Horton and his wife , Victoria of Keller, TX; her son, Jon Horton and his wife, Renee of Colleyville, TX; her daughter, Janene Binnion and her husband, Doug of Midland, TX; she had five grandchildren, Leslye Ammons, Lauren Bertrand, Devin Vought, Maren Binnion, Nathan Binnion and five great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harris and Mary D’Spain; her husband, Joe Horton; and grandson, Jason Horton.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Midland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children’s Home of Lubbock or The Westview Boys’ Home.
