Mary "Eletta" Aitken of Ripley and formerly of Kincardine passed away peacefully at her home in RVilla in Ripley on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at the age of 100.
Beloved wife of the late Stuart Aitken (2014).
Cherished mother of Vera (Frank) Lappano of St. Catharines, Rev. Bruce Aitken of Bracebridge, Ferne (Wes) Abell of Dunkeld and Clark (MaryLynne) Aitken of McKay's Corners and mother-in-law of Gary Schaus of Clifford.
Loved grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dear sister of George (Hazel) Nickel of Walkerton. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Predeceased by her daughter Gloria Schaus #198218645, daughter-in-law Kathy Aitken, sisters Margaret Burchill-Ferguson, Ruth Sewers and Ada Aitchison #80182318, and brother Carl Nickel.
Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, and from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at the Kincardine United Church, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Schaus, Jeff and Wes Abell, Steven Lappano, and Jared, Paul, Scott and Luke Aitken. Flower bearers were Heather and Lisa Schaus and Gillian and Karen Aitken.
Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.
