Dolores R. Mitchell, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, December 4, 2018 at Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy following a brief illness. Born in Schenectady, New York, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Lila M. Barton Chamberlain.

Dolores was a member of the Christian faith and a 1948 graduate of Manheim Township High School. She was a true renaissance woman in every sense of the word. She was the owner of Stacy’s Dress Shops in California, the General Store in Eagles Nest, New Mexico, and a consignment store in Lancaster. Additionally, she was secretary to the president of F&M College, was employed at the former Irl Dafflin Flying Corp., in Lancaster, and Finance and Insurance for Chrysler in Shillington.

Dolores was past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, having membership in chapters in both California and Pennsylvania. She served as president of the Orange Bowl Parade and collected antiques. Foremost, she was an avid book collector and voracious reader, with a keen interest in Lancaster County and its history.

She is survived by three daughters, Sharon E., wife of Robert L. Willet, of Lancaster, Terry L., wife of Robert R. Nolt, of Lancaster, and Reneé L. Mitchell-Treier, wife of John P. Treier, III, of Washington Boro; and two grandsons, Christopher J. Willet and Kyle M. Treier. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Leslie Chamberlain.
