March 3, 1932 - November 29, 2018
Dix W. Cloward passed away November 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at his home in South Ogden, Utah. He was 86 years old.
Dix was born March 3, 1932, in Monroe, Utah, to Elwin and Lorean Cloward. He graduated from South Sevier High School and went on to obtain his bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees from Utah State University. He was sealed to his sweetheart, Ruth Schick, in the Logan Temple on September 18, 1953. He served as a pilot in the Air Force for four years.
Dix left the Air Force to pursue a career in education. He taught Economics for five years at Boise Junior College, then moved to Ogden where he retired from teaching at Weber State University after 35 more years of teaching. He developed the Logistics program for Weber State and eventually set up the program for other universities around the country and the world.
Dix loved being with his family. He also enjoyed the outdoors - including hunting, fishing, and camping. He had a fun sense of humor and many friends.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many positions over the years including home teacher, Sunday School President, Executive Secretary, and High Councilor. His last calling was probably his favorite when he served on the Pastoral Committee at McKay-Dee Hospital.
Dix is survived by his five children; Dixi (Jeff) Rivas, Ron (Julie) Cloward, Cheryl Parkinson, Kim (John) Morris, and Rick (Laurel) Cloward, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and his sister Colleen (Sharon) Christensen.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Encompass Hospice - Tami, Angie, Val, and our homecare angels, Ruby, Maggie, Tiffany, Candace, Carly, Sam, Jenny and Zack. Your tender care meant so much to him and us. Thank you.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the South Ogden 8th Ward building, 720 Nancy Dr., South Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held at the ward building on Sunday, December 9, 2018, from 6:00- 8:00p.m. and again Monday before the funeral from 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Interment in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
