Melba was preceded in death by her husbands, John A. Sims and John Moseley; her parents, William Alonzo and Nodie Bell Mitchell; three brothers: Henry, Shirel and Thirel Mitchell; and three sisters: Zelna Edwards, Charius Whited and Iva Lee "Boots" Dunlap. She leaves her daughter, LeAnn Manley of Bartlett; son, John Alan Sims (Dixie) of Huntsville, AL; stepdaughter, Denise Hutcheson (Francis M.) of Newburg, IN; eight grandchildren: Nicole Erwin (Clarke) of Memphis, Mallory White (Doug) of Aiken, SC, Jacob Sims of Baton Rouge, LA, Kelsey Fraser (Nick) of Arlington, TN, Shelby Manley of Memphis, Madison Manley, also of Memphis, and Joshua and Matthew Hutcheson; also one great-grandson, Oscar Fraser; two sisters, Eris Jones of Cullman, AL and Julia "Judy" Dean Parker of Bessemer, AL.
Melba, as she was known to family and friends, or Nanny as she was known to her grandchildren and great-grandson, will remain in our hearts as a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, with service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both to be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home, East. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, East.
