Ernest served as a Private First Class, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Felton, Kent County, Delaware prior to the war.

Ernest enlisted in the Army on March 19, 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm hand and also as Single, without dependents.

He was " Killed In Action " in the Battle of Okinawa during the war.

Ernest was awarded the Purple Heart.
